Video Game News : : 12th June 2012

1) Call of Duty XP 2012 will not happen.
Activision revealed at E3 that the CoD event would not be annual. They instead explained how they would be focusing on ‘Gamescon’, a German based convention.
Whilst Activision said that they haven’t ruled out any future XP events, it will be interesting to see what happens to Black Ops 2 now players cannot demo the multiplayer pre-release. The 2011 event brought together thousands of fans to try out MW3 as Kanye West gave a life performance.
Maybe Black Ops 2 doesn’t need any more hype considering that it is the sequel to the best selling video game of all time.

2) By 2012, video game revenue will reach $70 billion.

DFC Intelligence, an accounting firm, has stated that video game revenue will rise from $50 billion (2011) to $70 billion (2017). PC gaming leads the market with 39% of the revenue whilst console gaming amounts 35%.
In America there are 64 million children alone that fall into the category of ‘core-gamers’. David Cole, the CEO of DFC explains how the main consumer remains male, aged 12-30 and will spend between $85 – $100 every 2 years.

3) Metal Gear Solid HD – PS VITA
This week brings the release of the HD remakes: Metal Gear Solid 2, Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3, Snake Eater to the PS Vita. I clicked onto the amazon page yesterday just to see how much it would be and almost started laughing when I saw the accolade section on the web page-

Finally, if you really are a Snake fan, the popular clothing brand Uniqlo (think ‘cheaper American Apparel) are now selling unique Metal Gear clothes-
